| Meetings are held the 2nd TUESDAY of the month at Mullheisen's Restaurant, Almond, NY, 7:00 pm. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! That’s what our newest group of safety snowmobilers are now saying. Thanks to the Southern Tier Snow Riders and the Almond Grange, we successfully had a total of 23 children and adults complete and pass the NYS Snowmobile Safety Course on December 1, 2007. The course was taught by instructors Ron Freeman and Terry Freeman, and assisted by Bonnie Hedges, instructor-in-training. The participants were required to attend an 8 hr. safety course which consisted of reading materials and hands on. A thank you goes out to Paul Coleman for bringing down our trail groomer sled for the participants to see. It also gave them a chance to see positioning of many of the standard components of a snowmobile. A thank you also goes out to Dick Gray and Caitlin Coleman for their help. Dick and Kate both helped out with lunch with Dick staying throughout the entire day to help with snack breaks and clean-up. If you see either of these people, please give them a big thank you. Also, thank you to the club for providing lunch and snacks. Upon completion of the instruction part, the participants then had to complete a 50 question test, with each question being worth 2 pts. Out of the 23 participants, we had 8 with a score of 100, and another 6 with a score of 98. Everyone passed and received their temporary certificate and safety patch. We also passed out club applications to anyone that was interested. Again, a big thank you to the Almond Grange for the donation of their building, to the Southern Tier Snow Riders club for lunch, to the volunteers for their time, and a big thank you to Ron, Terry and Bonnie for their instruction. If you see anyone listed, please thank them. These children are our future members. Good job everyone! Allegany County Federation of Snowmobilers www.acfsnow.org |
